Even though I don’t do them as often as I’d like, I really enjoy the Runway Inspired Challenges. I think it’s great to see all the interpretations of fashion in card form. If you go and check them out, it will be worth it. This week’s challenge is Delpozo.

I chose to do a top folding card to mimic her long lines, and I used the scallops to reflect the shape of the shirt. In person, the white embossing stands out better than in the picture, but that’s just my less than stellar photography skills ๐Ÿ˜‰ I also like using the stitching as a little wink ๐Ÿ˜‰ to this being a fashion challenge. Now I just need to find someone with a birthday that really likes Minnie Mouse because I think this card screams Disney (you were thinking it too, right?). It wasn’t really my intention, but I think that’s okay. Minnie’sย a classic, right? And Classic’s never go out of style!

I really enjoy the creative exercise of the Runway Inspired Challenges. It’s so much fun to try and translate one medium into another.

And here’s my take:

Runway Inspired Challenge #47

I like it ๐Ÿ™‚ Especially the sentiment that comes from my Tweety Jill Alice in Wonderland set ๐Ÿ™‚ I cut out the flowers using the Stampin’ Up Secret Garden die set. They are out of the Lakeside collection from Pebbles. The striped paper is from The Basic Grey Fact pad. I tried to use a lot of white space and the flowers to reflect the top and the stripes for the skirt.

Hi! This is the final card that I made last Saturday on World Card Making Day, but I finished it about 2am, so I wasn’t up for a 5th blog post that day. This one was designed for theย Runway Inspired Challenge #45. This is always a fun challenge. It’s interesting to take inspiration from one medium and transform it into another so that it is still recognizable.

The first thing you notice are the bold stripes of color. So I took my cue from those.

Pop Goes the Color!

I chose two different sized striped papers and then die cut them with the Bella Bloom die from Simon Says Stamp. I chose the background paper so that it mimics the dark stripes of the dress, but I also really liked that the stripes are actually stitching since the inspiration is a garment. Normally, I wouldn’t use so many patterns on one card, but I think since they are all variations of a stripe, they work. And no card would be complete without a few enamel dots!

This weekend I’m spending a bunch of time with friends at a Crafty Cabin retreat so I’m planning to get a lot done. Runway Inspired Challenge is back again with a simply stunning dress.

Since I’ve been doing a lot of Swap-Bot.com swaps, I’ve noticed that I’ve been needing some flatter cards to send my creations in. Once I get my foam-dot ATC into my pop-dotted card, it’s getting pretty thick. So in addition to using the picture as inspiration, I also wanted to challenge myself to make a one layer card.

And here is my interpretation

Classy, Simple, One-Layer Card

Classy and Simple

Sorry about the color, but I really like how this turned out. (I’ll have to adjust my picture taking area for this weekend) I used the really shiny Stampin’ Up rhinestones and Beautiful Botanicals 2 from A Muse Studio. The sentiment is from a Stampin’ Up set called Embrace Life.

The list of challenges I like to enter is pretty long and this one has always eluded me. I would forget, misremember the deadline, or check it a day too late. But not this time! Finally I get to play along with the Runway Inspired Challenge.

I don’t know anything about fashion (except watching a bunch of Project Runway), but I love the pop of color over the busy, mainly black and white, background. So that is what I chose to highlight.
Love the itty bitty Pearls!

Love the itty bitty Pearls!

I recently received the April card kit from Simon Says Stamp and I’ve been wanting to use it. The paper and colors in the Fancy Pants Park Bench collection are perfect for this challenge! I purchased a 12×12 sheet of one of the patterns and cut out the flowers and popped them off the front. Then I added my favorite CTMH tiny pearls to embellish the centers of the flowers and to dot the “I” in the sentiment. I think this is a great collection that I will get a lot of use from! I also added the flowers to go with The Paper Girls Challenge of “April Showers Bring May Flowers” and entered it there.
