We got amazing news awhile back that the wonderful neighbors we had when we moved into our house, were moving BACK in next door after moving away.

HOORAY!!!!!

They’ve recently had a little boy and his birthday is the PERFECT chance to use my Paper Smooches Cuteasaurus stamp set for their Anything Goes challenge.

ROAR!

Since he’s only 4 weeks old (Happy Birthday Philip!), I’m pretty sure he won’t appreciate how adorable the parade of dinosaurs is. But that’s ok. His mom might 🙂 I colored the palm tree with colored pencils and he has glittery blades on his back. The enamel triangles are from We are Memory Keepers.

Disclaimer: I’ve had these little snowmen for a really long time. At least it feels like a long time. They are SO cute, which is why I bought them, but I don’t make a lot of holiday cards so they’ve never gotten used. Now is the time little man–Get out there and be cute!! To the Paper Smooches Designer Drafts challenge!

I found this sketch a little challenging, but maybe that’s because I started it at 2am. Hmmm…well…I took another crack at it in the morning and it worked out much better than the night before.

There he is hanging out in the snow! I used an oldie but goodie for my paper–Basic Grey Nordic Holiday. The snowman is from the Paper Smooches Freezy Fellas stamp set. And the sentiment is from Paper Smooches Metropolis. He’s perched on a page from the Notebook Basic Die. And of course I needed to Stickle up his nose! 🙂

Today I took the day off to have a mini-retreat at home. My main goal is to not feel guilty for not doing the laundry or dishes. 🙂 I also wanted to try and play with a few techniques. The Picture Perfect challenge at Paper Smooches was a great chance.

Isn’t that picture gorgeous?!? Sometimes it’s easier to be inspired by a picture than others and this time was a piece of cake! I especially love how the colors blend into one another. Distress Inks will be perfect for this.

Hopefully you can see the glimmer on the leaves in this closeup.

SO fun to make! The patterned paper is from the Basic Grey Hey You! collection. I used the Paper Smooches Leafy Greens stamp set for all the leaves that I stamped on vellum. Since Distress Inks don’t dry well on non-porous paper, I needed to seal them and this was a good excuse to also use the Distress as an embossing ink. I used clear embossing powder to seal them all and then added a couple dewy drops of Glossy Accents on a couple of them. The sentiment is also from Paper Smooches called Word Salad. I made enough leaves so I have extra and can add them to something else. I’m also entering this into the Anything Goes challenge at Simon Says Stamp. Off to my next challenge!

I like making cards, but I really need to remember to send them more often. I think that’s going to have to be one of my new goals. The problem is, I generally like to make cards tailored to the recipient, but by the time I remember I need to send a card, it’s too late to make one and get it in the mail. Challenges help me get over that a little bit. This week’s Paper Smooches Sparks Challenge helped me make an “anytime” card for one of my crafty friends. (Maybe it’s YOU!)

Here is the inspiration photo for this week’s challenge.

Here’s my take:

Crafty Friend card, Paper Smooches Challenge

Hey Crafty!

I used the idea of the barely there grid and clear embossed the Hip to be Square background stamp first. Then I stamped over it with a leaf from Leafy Greens and wiped it off after so that the embossed pattern would stand out more. Then I stamped the easel from I Heart Art. I’m not a huge fan of how the pattern came through on the legs, but I think it’s okay. Then I stamped the easel again and cut out the “canvas” part to stamp the sentiment on, which is also from I Heart Art. The canvas part is popped up at the top. A little bit of twine and some of my new favorite embellishments, enamel dots, and I was all done!

I’ve said time and again that I have a lot of fun using the Paper Smooches stamps for paper piecing and I was excited to use them again on their newest Designer Drafts Challenge over at their Paper Smooches SPARKS blog. Here is the sketch for the current challenge.

Here’s my take!

I imagine cats do this when pesky people aren't around.

Here’s a closer look at the little kitties 🙂

These cuties and sentiment are from the Paper Smooches Nine Lives set. I used the Tim Holtz Tattered Banners die to make it look like maybe they have been playing with it a little too long. I know *I* think it looks fun to play with! I hope you enjoy!

I got SO MUCH done at the crop I went to yesterday!

This is a real accomplishment for me. Often I mean to get a lot done, but it just doesn’t happen. Either I bring too much or not enough (post on my packing coming soon). This week I have been saving links for challenges to enter. I also had some swaps and that looming (but exciting) Sketchbook Challenge to work on. I really like all the cards I made, but this is definitely in the top!

I LOVE Paper Smooches stamps because I really enjoy paper piecing and their simple outlines work really well for that. I also find them to be cute without being too cutesy. The card I made for their current challenge at the Paper Smooches SPARKS uses one of their new sets that I really love called Nine Lives.

How Cute is He?!?

Meow!

Seriously. How cute is he?

I actually stamped out the ball of yarn, but then decided that really wasn’t enough for him so I used some baker’s twine from Doodlebug and made him something soft and fuzzy to play with. He’s SO happy now!

As I said, I got a lot done so look for more posts coming of other cards and swaps I made. 🙂
