Well…when last we met brave readers, I was entrenched in my downstairs Crafting Outpost hoping that in the future, I could regroup and save the main battleground, ahem, crafting space. Alas, it is still lost.

My 5 square inches of space by Crafting{without}Kids

My 5 square inches of space.

However…I HAD to go in there. A last minute opportunity to be in the McFarland Christmas in the Village Craft Fair fell into my lap (Thanks Ellie!) and I had gotten some cute new stamps to make into ornaments. So…yeah. It’s not pretty (well the ornaments are cute), but it got the job done.

I won’t even talk about what’s become of my Outpost.

Wish me luck on Saturday!

Now, I’m off to look at other desks, through the What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday post at The Stamping Ground, that are actually clean(er)!

WOWW #337

Love What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday which is hosted by Stamping Ground. Stop on by and check out awesome work spaces every Wednesday. And since I’m endeavoring to do more things that I actually enjoy, I’m thrilled to contribute again. But, as with most of the plans I have with challenges and this blog there’s an asterisk…

It’s this:

Buried workspace for WOYWW 337

 This isn’t going to work.

There is not a lot of work going on on this desk. Clearly I wasn’t going to be able to burrow into this to clear any sort of workspace AND actually make anything in a timely fashion. So I decided to set up a Crafting Outpost. 🙂 I set up my folding TableMate next to my chair and started working there. I’ve been wanting to get back to beading more and specifically making more Freeform Peyote bracelets. Looking in my Big ‘Ol Box of Unfinished Projects, there’s actually several of these bracelets from when I used to teach my Freeform Peyote class (which was also way fun!).

Making these bracelets is probably the closest I actually get to Playing with my supplies. I know that I should, and most of me agrees, make stuff just for fun more often, but I have a hard time with that. And I like making things that serve a purpose so jewelry is perfect!

For those interested, the Brooklyn Community Craft Show went well and we’ll probably do it again next year. Maybe the current state of my desk will help me spend less money at the local stamp convention this weekend, but…probably not…so all the money I just made will be immediately funneled back into fun things. And did I mention today is the release day of Marvel Dice Masters: The Amazing Spider-ManShiny…Shiny…New…Dice…

Hi Everyone!

I love peeking at everyone’s workspaces on What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday hosted by Stamping Ground. Go take a look (but come on back). It’s so much fun!

I had hoped that more jewelry would be making it’s way onto the table, but right now, that doesn’t seem to be the case (although, maybe there’s some under there somewhere). I have been “saving” some blank canvases hoping to someday do Something with them, but that perfect thing isn’t coming and basically I’m just storing them at this point. So I decided to pull one out, throw some distress paint, embossing paste, and color through stencils on it and see what happens. Obviously, it’s not finished, and the doily and bird aren’t attached, but I thought it would be fun to just add stuff to it here and there. We’ll see. Maybe it will be nothing, but for now, it’s a start (which is more than it was before)!

A little late, but still Wednesday! 🙂 If you’re unfamiliar with What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday (WOYWW), head on over to Stamping Ground and find out more. It’s tons of fun!

I just wanted to quickly post a picture of my space since by next week, I want to have more jewelry items on it!

What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday for Crafting{without}Kids

I see a space!

I just bought a CTMH mat. One side is self-healing, and the other side is a little squishy and I think it will be a nice cushion to stamp on. I’m also hoping it will help me delineate a workspace. I guess we’ll see! I also see the new Card Creations magazine I just bought and one of the tubes of washi tape from the new My Mind’s Eye Necessities collection. Apparently well named, since I bought pretty much all of it! I even spy a panda card made by my friend Emily of Useless Without Pictures–He’s SO cute!

There’s tons of stuff there so feel free to look around! 🙂 See you next week with jewelry on there!

I’m here with a bare bones What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday. To find out more about the cool WOYWW of it all, go and see Julia at Stamping Ground!

What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday

Exciting, isn’t it?!? Nope.

I’ve been spending a bunch of time lately reassessing my space. While I’m really lucky to have my own room, I have A LOT of toys in it. And they are kind of everywhere. At the last crop I went to, I was able to use two tables, and I set up one with my computer and camera and the other I used to make stuff. It was SO nice to be able to have the two stations, that I wanted to see if there was any way to recreate that in my room with the little space that I have. So I sat and stared and made lots of notes. LOTS of notes as you can see. Now I have to implement, but I think I’m on the right track!

Hi to everyone stopping on over from Julia’s blog Stamping Ground where this Wonderful Wacky Wednesdayness is hubbed. Pop over there to check it out!

Here it is. The small bit of workspace I’ve carved from the SIX FOOT table that I work on. But you can actually SEE the table–That’s AMAZING!

I Made Something!

There’s a card and ATC for the Steampunk Halloween swap I’m in over at Swap-Bot. I was supposed to be making a birthday card, but I realized I didn’t have anything Halloweeny to send my ATC in and I still had the amazing Graphic 45 Steampunk Spells paper out so I thought I’d just whip that up. Of course, it took longer than I thought so the birthday card will have to get done tomorrow. Even a belated handmade birthday card is better than no handmade birthday card, right? 🙂

WOYWW 224: Jerry-Rigged

Welcome to What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday started by Julia over at Stamping Ground. Please go take a gander at her site to find out what this crazy thing is all about!

Let there be light! So…as you saw in my last WOYWW post, my craft room light completely blew out. So I stole this one from the extra bedroom and then I found the clip-on bed/desk lamp in the basement. The clip just barely stays in place because of the cord coming out of the middle of the lamp. Clearly I need a new light, but this is what I have to work with now (Besides, buying a new light leaves less money for crafty stuff!).

Jerry-Rigged but at least it's light!

Jerry-Rigged but at least it’s light!

On to my actual desk!

Ahhhh Tim Markers :)

Ahhhh Tim Markers 🙂

First I want to point out the brand-new, fairly expensive, stupid light bulb that is sitting there. I had JUST put that in my “new” lamp and THAT one blew out too. Lamp still works this time though. So…I may have a bigger problem I need to worry about 😦 Anyhoo… Needed to finish the inside of a baby shower card right before leaving, so everything is still hanging out on the desk. The Lawn Fawn baby set called Plus One, some of my amazing Tim Holtz Distress Markers, and one of my favorite Hero Arts sentiment sets. And of course, my other Aaron Rodgers earring is sitting there waiting to become another necklace for me!

WOYWW 222: Darkness

Well…it’s not dark now. But it was. When I went into my craftroom this weekend, I flipped the switch and blew out my light. My room doesn’t have any overhead light so I need to make do with a series of lamps, but it was my main beloved Ikea (of course) floor lamp that went out. So with less than stellar light, I set to the other main craftroom task–organizing. With that comes updating my Google Drive list, so out comes the laptop.

It’s baaaccck!

Of course, I had to move stuff in order to get TO my laptop to write this for the amazing Julia and company over at Stamping Ground, but that’s the way it goes, right? There’s my Ranger Ink Palette I unearthed while moving stuff here and there. In one of the many organizing books I’ve read, there was the trick to keep a list of problem areas and supplies, so that’s the start of my list right there. Number 1? Magazines! Then I dug into trying to work on my “Prime Real Estate”–the shelves I can reach without moving from my chair.

A Work in Progress

Adhesives in the bin at the top. I’m mostly working on thinning out the pen containers and only leaving what I actually use. The one on the far left used to be completely full! So I’m still working away…maybe on something more crafty by next week!

I did it! Two weeks in a row I’m posting for What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday. It’s not a perfect model to only post once a week, but it’s a start. And I’m moving in the right direction. If you don’t know what WOYWW is, go and check out Julia over at Stamping Ground. Go Ahead, I’ll wait. Just come back to see me!

So here we go!

WOYWW desh shot

Well…the space is gone…

The “laptop space” I had last week is long gone. Good thing I have a tablet. There’s just enough room for that!

What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday

Is that an actual project I spy?!?

The beads from last week are also gone since I actually finished that project. My Aaron Rodgers earrings are sitting there waiting to be turned into a couple of necklaces. For now he just gazes at me. That’s just fine by me! I decided I wanted to make a card for a challenge. I know that some people don’t like the constraints of challenges, but I find it good to at least have some starting parameters. Probably because I have WAY too much stuff that it gets overwhelming. Challenges help me narrow my focus.  I picked the Paper Smooches Sparks Challenge. Those are always fun and I love their stamps. Now I just have to assemble and put a couple finishing touches on it. Hey! I’ll have another post soon. 🙂

I’ve been meaning to join in and post for What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday. It’s hosted by Julia over at Stamping Ground. Every Wednesday you take a picture of your workspace and then post it. I’ve always found others’ workspaces really interesting. It’s fun to take a peek into another’s creative space. It’s like being a little crafty peeping tom. Here’s your look inside my little window.

There’s Space!

The ONLY reason there’s space there, is my laptop was there as of yesterday. In the baggie is the rest of the necklace I need to make into earrings and a bracelet for my pseudo-mother-in-law. I’m trying to use my new-ish Sticker Stadium so that’s getting filled up. I just opened a really old epoxy button and chipboard set to get at the cute little cupcakes to make a Thank You card for my trainer. If you think it looks crowded now…you have no idea. Did I mention this table is 6 feet long? And it’s at least 5 1/2 feet full.

This isn't even the whole thing...

This isn’t even the whole thing…

workdesk, table, craft room

Yeah. I know.

Crazy, right? I know. You’d think with all that space, I’d have plenty of room for everything. It’s pretty much the opposite. I keep setting stuff on there that I “really should use”. See those papers in the bottom corner of the last picture? Those have been in a pile to make-something-because-aren’t-they-all-pretty-together for…well…as long as I can remember. Now that you have all seen where I work, I should really get to making something!
