Now that sounds like fun! 🙂

Mine isn’t like that at all, but the new challenge at Drunken Stampers is Workplace.

This challenge was a great excuse to use my new-ish (well, they aren’t actually new, I just haven’t used them since I got them) stamps from PinkFlamingo61 on Etsy. (Full disclosure–just adding that link made me look at her store again and buy something else. Dang it. So cool.) Anyhoo…Here’s my take.

Drunken workplace challenge

Is it 5 o’clock yet?

Both the sentiment and the women are from PinkFlamingo61–Fun, right?!?! She has so many cheeky sentiments! The background paper is from the Crate Paper DIY Shop collection. And I used a Prima wood veneer (love those things!) that I colored with silver Smooch Inks. The women I just colored with some pencils and I added a little Pearl brooch. I don’t know what those women are talking about, but I hope it’s not me!

Thanks for stopping by!

Whew! I’ve been spending my mini-retreat finishing up some projects that have been sitting around my craft room for awhile. All I needed to do was add a piece of cork to a message center that I was working on, and it’s been sitting for weeks. Sheesh Marissa!

One of the other projects that I’ve been wanting to finish was a tag bookmark I had started. I had the background paper picked out and I had her stamped out and partially paper pieced, but that’s about it. And she’s been staring at me. The Shopping Our Stash stitching challenge was the kick in the butt I needed.

Paper pieced bookmark

Shhhh! She’s reading!

She is a My Favorite Things stamp called Here’s the Story. I used a bunch of different papers from my scrap stash to build her pants and books. Smooch Inks were used on her shoes, hair and the pages of the books. The sentiment is from Mama Elephant’s Say What set. I used my favorite white Uni-ball pen for the faux stitching around the tag. I hope to invest in a sewing machine at some point so I can do actual sewing on my cards and tags. She’s really enjoying her Bug Book! The Paper Girls Challenge is all about bugs this time and I love any chance to use these sparkly ones! And since Anything Goes over at Simon Says Stamp this week, I’m going to enter it in there too 🙂

A Drunken Goth?

A Drunken Goth? Sure! Why not!

The current challenge at Drunken Stampers is Person: Goth.

I don’t usually buy stamps like this, but there was something about them that I loved. And I’m SO glad I did. Both of the Goth girls are from Stampotique Originals.

Goth girl ATCs Spykee and Prom Queen

Meet Spykee and Prom Queen!

I stamped them with white ink so they are the negative of the usual with white hair and white makeup. On Spykee I used some Rock Candy Distress Crackle and then used Distress Ink to make it look a little like aged cracking. With both of them I went through my rub-ons and added a few here and there. What would be Prom without some sparkle so I added Stickles to Prom Queen’s outfit and hair. A little Stampin’ Up bat is her dapper escort. The text on both of them is from an old Greek mythology text I had. These will be flying off to my swap partners soon!

Today I took the day off to have a mini-retreat at home. My main goal is to not feel guilty for not doing the laundry or dishes. 🙂 I also wanted to try and play with a few techniques. The Picture Perfect challenge at Paper Smooches was a great chance.

Isn’t that picture gorgeous?!? Sometimes it’s easier to be inspired by a picture than others and this time was a piece of cake! I especially love how the colors blend into one another. Distress Inks will be perfect for this.

Paper Smooches One of a Kind card

Hopefully you can see the glimmer on the leaves in this closeup.

SO fun to make! The patterned paper is from the Basic Grey Hey You! collection. I used the Paper Smooches Leafy Greens stamp set for all the leaves that I stamped on vellum. Since Distress Inks don’t dry well on non-porous paper, I needed to seal them and this was a good excuse to also use the Distress as an embossing ink. I used clear embossing powder to seal them all and then added a couple dewy drops of Glossy Accents on a couple of them. The sentiment is also from Paper Smooches called Word Salad. I made enough leaves so I have extra and can add them to something else. I’m also entering this into the Anything Goes challenge at Simon Says Stamp. Off to my next challenge!
