Happy Happy Bunny Birthday!

My good friend George just had a birthday. I’m working on this whole getting things done on time thing, but…yeah. I’m not quite there yet. But since he’s known me longer than any of my other friends, I’m pretty sure he’s used to it 🙂 Here’s his card!

CAKE!!!!

CAKE!!!!

I know the colors are not traditional cake colors, but it sure looks delicious to me! It’s hard to see, but it sure is shiny! Here’s a closeup so you can see some of the shimmer.

Oooooo Shiny!

The popped-up bunny is over the cake I colored completely with Smooch Inks. There aren’t enough candles on the cake, but I think that’s ok 🙂

Hi to everyone stopping on over from Julia’s blog Stamping Ground where this Wonderful Wacky Wednesdayness is hubbed. Pop over there to check it out!

Here it is. The small bit of workspace I’ve carved from the SIX FOOT table that I work on. But you can actually SEE the table–That’s AMAZING!

I Made Something!

There’s a card and ATC for the Steampunk Halloween swap I’m in over at Swap-Bot. I was supposed to be making a birthday card, but I realized I didn’t have anything Halloweeny to send my ATC in and I still had the amazing Graphic 45 Steampunk Spells paper out so I thought I’d just whip that up. Of course, it took longer than I thought so the birthday card will have to get done tomorrow. Even a belated handmade birthday card is better than no handmade birthday card, right? 🙂

WOYWW 224: Jerry-Rigged

Welcome to What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday started by Julia over at Stamping Ground. Please go take a gander at her site to find out what this crazy thing is all about!

Let there be light! So…as you saw in my last WOYWW post, my craft room light completely blew out. So I stole this one from the extra bedroom and then I found the clip-on bed/desk lamp in the basement. The clip just barely stays in place because of the cord coming out of the middle of the lamp. Clearly I need a new light, but this is what I have to work with now (Besides, buying a new light leaves less money for crafty stuff!).

Jerry-Rigged but at least it's light!

On to my actual desk!

Ahhhh Tim Markers :)

Ahhhh Tim Markers 🙂

First I want to point out the brand-new, fairly expensive, stupid light bulb that is sitting there. I had JUST put that in my “new” lamp and THAT one blew out too. Lamp still works this time though. So…I may have a bigger problem I need to worry about 😦 Anyhoo… Needed to finish the inside of a baby shower card right before leaving, so everything is still hanging out on the desk. The Lawn Fawn baby set called Plus One, some of my amazing Tim Holtz Distress Markers, and one of my favorite Hero Arts sentiment sets. And of course, my other Aaron Rodgers earring is sitting there waiting to become another necklace for me!

WOYWW 222: Darkness

Well…it’s not dark now. But it was. When I went into my craftroom this weekend, I flipped the switch and blew out my light. My room doesn’t have any overhead light so I need to make do with a series of lamps, but it was my main beloved Ikea (of course) floor lamp that went out. So with less than stellar light, I set to the other main craftroom task–organizing. With that comes updating my Google Drive list, so out comes the laptop.

It’s baaaccck!

Of course, I had to move stuff in order to get TO my laptop to write this for the amazing Julia and company over at Stamping Ground, but that’s the way it goes, right? There’s my Ranger Ink Palette I unearthed while moving stuff here and there. In one of the many organizing books I’ve read, there was the trick to keep a list of problem areas and supplies, so that’s the start of my list right there. Number 1? Magazines! Then I dug into trying to work on my “Prime Real Estate”–the shelves I can reach without moving from my chair.

A Work in Progress

Adhesives in the bin at the top. I’m mostly working on thinning out the pen containers and only leaving what I actually use. The one on the far left used to be completely full! So I’m still working away…maybe on something more crafty by next week!

I like making cards, but I really need to remember to send them more often. I think that’s going to have to be one of my new goals. The problem is, I generally like to make cards tailored to the recipient, but by the time I remember I need to send a card, it’s too late to make one and get it in the mail. Challenges help me get over that a little bit. This week’s Paper Smooches Sparks Challenge helped me make an “anytime” card for one of my crafty friends. (Maybe it’s YOU!)

Here is the inspiration photo for this week’s challenge.

Here’s my take:

Crafty Friend card, Paper Smooches Challenge

Hey Crafty!

I used the idea of the barely there grid and clear embossed the Hip to be Square background stamp first. Then I stamped over it with a leaf from Leafy Greens and wiped it off after so that the embossed pattern would stand out more. Then I stamped the easel from I Heart Art. I’m not a huge fan of how the pattern came through on the legs, but I think it’s okay. Then I stamped the easel again and cut out the “canvas” part to stamp the sentiment on, which is also from I Heart Art. The canvas part is popped up at the top. A little bit of twine and some of my new favorite embellishments, enamel dots, and I was all done!
